Concert: Christmas Favourites Concert – Ticket Refunds & Free Concert

Dear all,

Please could we again apologise to everyone who came along for our concert at St John’s last night. We had had a great rehearsal in the afternoon, and the band and choir were all looking forward to a lovely concert to kick-start the season’s festivities. However, as you know, the power failure at the church meant that we were unable to hold the evening concert, but we were very grateful to Park View School Choir for a lovely performance of a few of their carols.

As Simon announced in the dark last night, the band will be playing most of the repertoire that was planned for last night on Wednesday 19 December at 7.30pm at the Engineer’s Club, 214 Osmaston Road, Derby DE23 8JX (click here for map). We would be delighted if friends and family could come along to join us, so please will you forward this on to anyone you know who came along last night.

There will be no charge to attend on Wednesday, and if anyone had bought a ticket to Saturday’s concert in advance then we will give a full refund. Please get the ticket to myself or Tony Gordon and we’ll give you a refund on Wednesday evening; if you can’t make it on Wednesday we’ll refund tickets in January too – please email me at for further details. We hope to see as many people as possible on Wednesday – it should be a great evening.

Merry Christmas!

2012, Christmas Break – No rehearsals

Just a quick reminder to the band – Derby Concert Band’s last rehearsal of 2012 is on 19th December.  First half will be the re-arranged Christmas Favourites Concert, held at the Derby Engineer’s Club.  Second half will be fun, frolics, and the Annual MD Awards Ceremony.  Don’t forget to bring a few mince pies if you can!

We’ll be back after Christmas, with the first rehearsal on 9th January 2013.

Its been an awesome year.  We’ve achieved loads.  Now its time for a well-earned break 🙂

2012, Supporting Rainbows Hospice

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young PeopleGreat news! We’re pleased to confirm that our concert at Derby Cathedral in September this year, “A Very British Celebration” raised £780 for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. This was a combination of ticket sales, collections and sales on the Rainbows stall.

Many thanks to Paula from Rainbows and to all the band for making it such a success!
