Would you like to join?
Derby Concert Band is always interested in welcoming new members to the band, so thank you for showing an interest in joining us!
Applications to join the band are considered on a case-by-case basis (as a guide, the desired minimum musical ability is Grade 5) by the Musical Director and Chairman. To help them assess your application please will you complete the form at the bottom of this page, and Ruth Taylor-Durant, our Membership Secretary will be in touch within 3 weeks in reply to your application.
Membership of the band currently stands at about 50. These members represent all walks of life and span a wide range, from school age to senior citizens.
There is a wide range of ability, from about Grade 5 standard to those who have had considerable professional experience. Those of a higher standard are always willing to offer help and support to those members who may find some of the music a little challenging.
The one thing in common that members of the Derby Concert Band do share is their love for music and playing music together for themselves and for the enjoyment of others. There is a very friendly atmosphere amongst the band members and the social events are enjoyed by those that are able to attend them.
The Derby Concert Band has, over the years, played at many venues. Recent concerts have been held at Derby Cathedral, Chesterfield’s Winding Wheel (both in conjunction with the Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir), Landau Forte and other local venues. Although the band is a local one, it has also been known to play further afield in Derbyshire’s surrounding counties. Many concerts are sell-out events performed in front of a wonderful, receptive audience.
The Derby Concert Band rehearse every Wednesday evening from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at:
