Just a quick reminder that Derby Spectrum Winds is resuming rehearsals this Wednesday, 4th September after our summer break.
We will be in our new rehearsal venue: The Royal British Legion in Allestree (39 Cornhill, Derby, DE22 2FS) and rehearsals will start at the usual time of 18:15.

Appeal from Derby Spectrum Winds for New Rehearsal Venue
Derby Spectrum Winds is looking for a new rehearsal space after the announcement that The Engineers Club on Osmaston Road, Derby, is set to close on 22nd June. The 25-person wind band has been rehearsing weekly at the club for over since it’s conception.
Derby Spectrum Winds is appealing to the public for recommendations of a suitable venue for weekly rehearsals. A suitable space would be a small- to medium-sized hall with good acoustics and storage space for the band‘s sheet music and large percussion section. Car parking facilities are also necessary. In return, the band will pay reasonable room hire charges.
Derby Spectrum Winds has been practising and performing music in and around Derbyshire since 2007 and looks forward to playing for many more. It’s with great sadness that we leave our current home and our thoughts are with The Engineers Club, its management, members and other music groups who meet there. Here are the photos when we played out at Tara Buddhist centre summer fair in June 2013. It absolutely poured with rain, but we had a great time playing some interesting music and getting the visitors singing in the rain!
Here are 2 photos of when we played at a charity fair in June 2013. It was called ‘Ey Up Mi Duck!’ and raised money for the blind and partially sighted in Derby. We played some interesting music including Star Wars and Phantom of the Opera.
Here are some of the photos of Shirley open gardens in May 2013. It was a lovely day, we played a selection of movie themes to an appreciative audience. Music flowed over the crowd as the people visited beautiful gardens.
Just a quick reminder to the band – Derby Spectrum Winds’ last rehearsal of 2012 is on 19th December. After which, all band members are welcome to join in the fun with Derby Concert Band’s rehearsal – First half will be usual rehearsal. Second half will be fun, frolics, and the Annual MD Awards Ceremony. Don’t forget to bring a few mince pies if you can!
We’ll be back after Christmas, with the first rehearsal on 9th January 2013.

In September 2012, Derby Spectrum Winds organised their first musicians workshop with esteemed conductor John Watson. Everyone had a superb time, and took a lot away from John’s superb guidence. The band is thoroughly looking forward to their next session!
